We usually focus strongly on one specific concept per story coupled with review on previously taught concepts. The time frame on this varies with each concept or selection. This is done via a short story or reading selection that may or may not originate from the reading book. Vocabulary usually accompanies each selection. 📓
The concepts and standards that we cover are developed through a myriad of different learning techniques in the classroom that include activities that are both individual and group oriented. Collaboration is a big part of our classroom and it occurs on a daily basis. 🤝
We also participate in RT or Reciprocal Teaching which places learners in student lead groups as they analyze and read a selection. Students take turns acting as the teacher leader where they encourage their fellow classmates to develop their own questions, clarify vocabulary, and summarize the text. 📖
We will also keep notes in our Interactive Reading Notebook covering specific concepts. Any other notes taken should be kept in the Keep It folder in their binder. 📘
When we are finished covering a concept students will then be given a fresh read to assess whether or not they have achieved understanding. 🖊
There will also be special pages added to this website as we cover a particular topic that will include tips, pics of notes, website links, and even videos meant for reviewing and studying. Reviewing the notes in the Interactive Reading Notebook and utilizing these added resources will be the best method for preparing for one of our many classroom tests.📙
